Creating a profile on American Singles is pretty easy, and lets you really specify some things about yourself. The �essay� sections are also good, with not only the usual �about you� and �you are looking for� but also �my idea of the perfect first date�, �my idea of the perfect relationship�, and �what I�ve learned from my past relationships�.

Searching is flexible. You can tag your search with �photos only� or �by location�, and then sort your results by �most active� or �closest to you�. The profiles are complex, so you get a lot of information about each potential match. One possible negative about American Singles is that its profiles may be hard to read due to the amount of information and the way it�s put together on the page.

You can indicate whether you think you�ll �click� or not by clicking the �yes�, �no�, or �maybe� buttons beside a profile. If you click �maybe�, the system will ask you at some further date if you will reconsider. If you click �yes�, the system will check and see if that other person clicked �yes� on you, and if so, you�ll both find out.

You can email and instant message. However, that requires a paid membership. Rates are average at one month for $24.95 (and $24.95 each month thereafter) or three months for $59.95 ($19.95 each month thereafter).

One good point--American Singles also keeps very good tabs on not only everything you do on the site, but what other people have done to you. This doesn�t only apply to emails and teases and �clicks�, because it even tracks the profiles you view.
